Trumpery
I hate Trump and his kind, although obviously there are plenty of folk (mostly Americans) who think he's doing a great job as president of the USA. If you don't believe me, just get on to twitter to find out.
Donald Trump is rich but he hasn't earned a cent of his money. He inherited a lot of cash from the man who did make it - his father - and then managed to lose a lot of it. I refuse to accept people like Donald Trump as examples of how to be a capitalist, although he is living proof that with money you can buy just about anything in the USA: pretty wives and kids, TV fame, political office. Just as long as you are prepared to keep on lying every time you open your mouth. But you can't buy experience or empathy and it's becoming clear as people face the results of Trump's policy on immigration that he has none.
Has Trump stooped as low as it is possible for a politician to go? Or can we look forward to politicians in Europe who see Trump as a great example copying him or going one step beyond him? Not to mention how difficult it seems to be to get some people to believe this man is sick, if not downright evil.
The West has gone - in my opinion - as far to the right as it can go. Poland's president is a Fascist. He'll deny that, of course, but how else do you explain why Poland - a member of the EU and of NATO - refuses to accept a single refugee from the Middle East and goes on openly hating Jews? (The Jewish population in Poland went from roughly half a million before the 2nd World War to about 10,000 in the 1950s but that didn't stop Polish anti-Semites blaming Jews for all of Poland's problems). And why has Italy, also in the EU and NATO and a beacon of hope for years now for refugees, stopped accepting displaced people from the Middle East? Something to do with a far right government maybe.
These are not the only countries that espouse Fascism. I suppose it's all part of a cycle - a revolt against totalitarianism but it has been taken to extremes.
I want to know: cui bono? It's a Latin expression and it asks who benefits from a crime - and, in my opinion, racism is a crime. The people racism is aimed at are the poor, the disabled, the displaced, and minorities of any kind.
Thus, the Polish government is after the Jews and the Italian government is after the Roma. The Germans are holding on with difficulty to the pro-immigrant view, as are the French and the Spanish (very quietly), but the UK is a shambles, thanks to people like Theresa May and the appalling 'hostile environment' she created. This is a UK matter: Scotland in fact need s a lot of immigrants but is prevented from bringing them here to work by the Westminster government.
It's - of course - a confused situation. But you have to take a side. All of us do. So here's the choice: let the Fascists take over or fight back.
