Things I've learned from Covid-19
We've only just started on our Covid-19 journey but there are plenty of lessons for us already:
Lucky for us, the world is full of nurses and doctors who will tell you 'I love my job' and go on doing it.
We actually have to ask customers to stop behaving like dicks in supermarkets now.
Nobody knows what caused Covid-19 but there are plenty of folk out there prepared to guess. Ignore them.
Some of our 'leaders' are anything but. Don't rely on them: look after each other.
Pharmacists are not superhuman but we still ask them to perform the impossible. And they do.
Despite years of education, some of us still don't know we should wash our hands after we pee.
We don't really know much about Covid-19. Raging about conspiracies won't improve our understanding. Scientists will and they're beavering away right now.
A few people think spitting on police officers and nurses is how you get your own way.
There's no conspiracy- we really are that ignorant and disorganised - right across the world.
Enjoying your own company in isolation is one thing but there's a limit - and some of us will reach it earlier than others.
There are some remarkably bright people working in public health in Scotland.
There are some incredibly stupid people phoning 111. (Gonny gie it a rest).
Look after carers - those in the family and those that come in from the outside. They are the jewels in our crown. Badly paid jewels but there we are.
Best wishes to anyone who is feeling ill or sad or just pissed off right now. We're right in the middle of this pandemic and yes, it's hard to believe it's the shambles it really is. Take care of yourself and each other. Listen to the advice we're given.
See you on the other side.
